Unbearable Pain

When you are a medic, no one really prepares you for the loss of your first patient. No one tells you how it drains life out of you and makes you feel hopeless and a million times horrible.

Her name was Jane. She was my patient since her first trimester. It was also her first baby. You get to see your patients a lot you develop a personal bond with them.

She was always jovial and she never shut up. She'd rumble on and on about so many things leaving you with no choice but to listen to her. Anyone who interacted with her automatically liked her.

She came in one night in premature labor. My attending asked me to prepare her for a CS procedure which I did and then he also asked me to scrub in which in my case is always a privilege.

Jenny was always in trousers, long dresses or mom jeans and she never told me that she had unsightly veins on her leg.

Anyway, long story short, sweet Jane died on the table. Complications from blood clots which was as a result if untreated varicose vein.

She flat lined and I remember feeling the life drain out of me. I was in pain because she was my first patient to lose, and also because I was her doctor and I never knew about the varicose veins because if I did I would have recommended treatment.

You never forget the loss of your first patient and that's how my obsession with vein diseases started and how I started this blog as well. To educate people on it and make sure that such a scenario would never happen again.

I looked for a vein specialist to liaise with to make sure that I would refer my patients someplace else if they had symptoms of vein diseases and get the best varicose veins treatment. Her death broke me, that's true, but it also made me a better doctor and I don't take that lightly.

Signs and Symptoms You Should Look Out For

In the initial stages of varicose veins you may have mild symptoms. In this case, I assumed that's what Jane had and she refused to mention it because she just assumed what she felt at the end of the day was just exhaustion.

It is so easy for you to forget how your legs felt before going through the problem. However, as the condition gets worse there are symptoms you can easily notice.

The initial symptoms include: burning or numbness, aching, cramping, itching, heaviness, leg pain, tiredness, Restlessness in legs, and swelling in get calves and ankles.

If on the onset of those symptoms you refuse to get the treatment you need, you may experience bleeding veins, skin discoloration, sores that heal poorly, and blood clots which is how my patient died.

Whenever I get patients with such symptoms with no financial stability or medical plan, I advise them to visit Alsara Vein Clinic which is located in St Joseph Mo or to visit their website.

The clinic offers you favorable treatment options based on how severe your vein disease is. One of the treatment that is most effective is the Varicose Vein Laser Treatment.

I highly recommend it as well because it is non-surgical and also minimally invasive. It is the safest, long-term and most effective solution for varicose veins.

Other options include sclerotherapy, spider vein treatment, and Microphlebectomy. All if which are procedures meant to treat varicose veins.

If you notice onset of any of these symptoms you should visit a doctor near you or a vein clinic and get the help you need before it gets worse and lead to blood clots which can potentially out your life in danger.
